GSFP Holds Workshop to Review Policy document

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has held a workshop to review a policy document currently being revised by a consultant with support from the World Food Programme (WFP).

Opening the workshop, the National Coordinator of the GSFP Hajia Fati Forgor urged participants to feel free to express their views and make constructive inputs, stressing that their practical experience and knowledge of the Programme were essential to strengthening the policy document.

The workshop which was held in Accra provided an opportunity for participants to critically examine the policy document, identify gaps, and make relevant technical inputs based on their professional experience and practical knowledge of the organisation’s operations.

Notably, a section of the staff who participated in the workshop had the privilege of contributing to the development of the policy document when it was originally drafted in 2015. Their institutional knowledge and experience provided valuable historical perspectives that enriched the discussions and review process.

The outcome of the workshop, including the comments, observations and recommendations from participants, will be collated and submitted to the consultant to inform and guide the review and revision of the policy document.

The GSFP Policy envisages a well organised, decentralised intervention providing disadvantaged school children with nutritionally adequate, locally produced food.

The policy also envisions poverty reduction, improved household incomes and strengthen local economic development
