Tamale Mayor commissions new 6-unit classroom block at St. Paul’s JHS

The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abukari Takoro, has commissioned a newly constructed six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at St. Paul’s Junior High School (JHS) in Gumbihini.
The project, which was funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), commenced on October 20, 2025, and was completed ahead of its scheduled completion date of March 30, 2026.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Takoro said the completion of the facility represents a major intervention in addressing overcrowding and inadequate classroom infrastructure at St. Paul’s JHS.

According to him, the new classroom block will provide pupils with a more conducive environment for teaching and learning while supporting teachers to effectively deliver quality education.
He said the investment forms part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and ensure that children have access to the facilities needed for their academic development.
Hon. Takoro noted that the project is in line with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda, which places the needs and development of the Ghanaian child at the centre of national development.
He added that the project also demonstrates the commitment of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to ensuring that public resources are directed towards critical infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of the people.
The Mayor commended the Ghana Education Service, the School Management Committee and PTA, the Assembly Member for Gumbihini, the Old Students Association, the Unit Committee, the Chief and people of Gumbihini, as well as the contractor, for their contributions towards the successful completion of the project.
Hon. Abukari Takoro also expressed his profound appreciation to the Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central Constituency, the Tamale Central Constituency NDC Chairman and his executives, as well as Imams, Pastors and other religious leaders, for honouring the invitation and participating in the commissioning ceremony.

The new facility is expected to significantly improve teaching and learning conditions at St. Paul’s JHS and help address the growing infrastructure needs of the school.I can also make it more like a professional Ghanaian news website story, with a stronger headline and lead.
