NPP Northern Region names former Minister Salifu Saeed to National Council
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Secretariat has appointed former Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed, as a Member of the National Council of the Party. The appointment is contained in a letter dated September 11, 2026, and signed by the Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba.
According to the letter, the appointment recognizes Alhaji Salifu Saeed’s experience, commitment and contribution to the growth and advancement of the NPP.
“On behalf of the NPP Northern Regional Executives, I am pleased to formally inform you of your appointment as a Member of the National Council of the New Patriotic Party,” the letter stated.
The Regional Chairman expressed confidence that his knowledge, counsel and dedication would contribute meaningfully to the deliberations and work of the National Council. He has also been tasked to discharge his responsibilities with the highest standards of integrity, loyalty, discipline and commitment to the Constitution and objectives of the NPP, and to formally communicate his acceptance of the appointment to the Northern Regional Secretariat.
Alhaji Salifu Saeed, popularly known as “You Can Be Sure,” hails from Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District and was born on December 28, 1978.
He served as Northern Regional Minister from February 2017 to February 2025 under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Prior to that, he served as District Chief Executive for Nanumba North, then Nanumba-South, from May 2005 to February 2009 under former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
He began his education at Bagabaga Training College, now Bagabaga College of Education, where he obtained a Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’. He later obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies and a Master’s degree in Development Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) between 2011 and 2012.
He also holds a certificate in Peace and Conflict Prevention and Management from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Before his appointment as Regional Minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed served as Chief Executive Officer of Africa Commodities and Logistics Company Limited and Co-Director of Savannah Integrated Rural Development Aid.
He was also a senior campaign aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2024 election campaign. He has since maintained that his focus remains on the DMB project ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Alhaji Salifu Saeed is regarded as one of the experienced and influential political figures in the Northern Region, with a long history of public service and political engagement. He is also considered by some traditional leaders in the region as a figure capable of promoting unity and consensus among political stakeholders.
