Fire damages portion of former Bawku west DCE's residence in Zebilla

A portion of the residence of the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bawku West District, Hon. Sulley Agholisi, has been affected by a fire outbreak in Zebilla.
The incident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, damaging one bedroom and a corridor of the house.
Speaking to journalists, Hon. Agholisi said he suspects an electrical fault may have caused the fire. According to him, part of the electrical system in the house had developed a fault, prompting him to call in an electrician to repair it.
He explained that shortly after the repair work was carried out, a passer-by noticed smoke coming from the roof of the house and alerted the occupants. The occupants quickly rushed to the scene and discovered that a fire had broken out.
Residents and other people in the area swiftly intervened and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread to other parts of the residence.

The former DCE’s son, Mr. Sulley Tanimu, also confirmed to journalists that one bedroom and a corridor were affected by the fire.

The Ghana National Fire Service has been contacted to assess the incident and determine the actual cause of the fire.
Hon. Agholisi expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah that no lives were lost and no one sustained any injuries during the incident.
